Sand Ridge Charter School is:
- a conversion charter school, converting from an alternative school in 2002
- operated by People Involved in Education, Inc. ("PIE") which has been in continuing successful operation since 1992
- kindergarten through eighth grade
- Core Knowledge Curriculum, and the Riggs Institute's Writing and Spelling Road to Reading and Thinking,
complemented by Shurley Grammar/Language Arts, Excellence in Writing, Saxon Math and McGraw-Hill resources in Science
and Reading, as well as Core Knowledge texts in Reading and Social Studies
- back to Basics emphasis
- direct instruction emphasis
- small learning groups / small classroom size (around 20)
- a highly qualified teacher in each classroom along with a teacher assistant and parent volunteers
- individualized educational plans
- strong emphasis on parental involvement
- continual engagement of all parents in the educational process
- very attractive to home school students and other students who have not, or would not, otherwise use the public
school system.

Note: There is a new Oregon law requirement for schools to share immunization and exemption rates with parents. This rate
is the percentage of students with non-medical exemptions vs. students who are up to date on their immunizations. Sand
Ridge's percentage for 2017-18 school year was 4%. Pie Preschool and Daycare's percentage rate was 3%.
